Columbia Bands is a non-profit community organization that gives non-professional musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform challenging band literature while educating and entertaining the public in Howard County and other Maryland communities.

Michael Blackman directs the Columbia Concert Band and Pete BarenBregge directs the Columbia Jazz Band. Both groups rehearse year-round and play a variety of styles within their respective genres. Len Morse directs Flute Cocktail, which rehearses during the school year.

Participation in music ensembles and related activities is open to all. Qualifications for membership include interest and cooperation in organizational activities along with musical instrument proficiency. Members participate in band activities on a voluntary basis; however, small annual dues and donations are collected to help fund ongoing organizational expenses.

For more information on membership, please contact the director/manager of the group you are interested in: Concert Band, Jazz Band, Flute Cocktail.

Donating to Columbia Bands will help us provide our fans and the public with more great performances, and will support the arts as a whole. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, which means your donation is tax-deductible. Receipts are available upon request.
